About the book

When Theodosia Browning, the owner of the Indigo Tea Shop, receives an invitation from Doreen Briggs, one of Charleston’s most prominent hostesses, to a ‘Rat Tea,’ she is intrigued. The party features servers in rodent costumes serving elegant finger sandwiches and fine teas, harkening back to early twentieth-century Charleston when such gatherings were held to promote rodent control and public health.

However, the event takes a dark turn when a fire breaks out and Doreen’s husband collapses and dies after consuming his favorite orange pekoe tea. Theo becomes suspicious and decides to investigate discreetly. With the help of her tea sommelier, she delves into the guest list in search of potential suspects, plunging them into a dangerous game of cat and mouse.
