About the book

Theodosia’s Honey Bee Tea was a sophisticated event held in Charleston’s new Petigru Park surrounded by freshly planted native grasses and a community beekeeping project. However, everything took a chaotic turn when a fake beekeeper appeared and started spraying toxic smoke at the guests, leading to pandemonium. To make matters worse, a gunshot is heard and Osgood Claxton III, a candidate for state legislature, is found dead.

Holly Burns, the gallery owner who had enlisted Theodosia to cater the tea, is devastated. With a man killed, her guests injured and upset, and the artwork in ruins, she is desperate for help. With the police seemingly clueless and traditional politicians unwilling to investigate, Holly implores Theodosia to conduct a covert inquiry to clear her gallery’s name.

Amidst organizing a Wind in the Willows Tea and a Glam Girl Tea, Theodosia interviews those who had a motive to harm Claxton. This list includes Booker, a disgruntled outsider artist; Lamar Lucket, Claxton’s political rival; and Mignon Merriweather, the deceased’s soon-to-be ex-wife. As the investigation progresses, it becomes entangled in politics with a second murder, the exposure of a scandalous affair, a pursuit through a marsh, and a vandalized store.
