About the book
Theodosia Browning serves tea and solves crimes in Charleston, a city steeped in tradition and treachery in the latest Tea Shop Mystery from New York Times bestselling author Laura Childs.
On a Sunday afternoon, Theodosia and Drayton are serving a formal tea at a hot-air balloon rally. The sight from up above is breathtaking, with a dozen colorful hot-air balloons surrounding them. Suddenly, as the sky darkens and clouds gather, a drone appears out of nowhere, buzzing around the balloons.
Watching in shock, Theodosia and Drayton witness the drone intentionally collide with the balloon beside them, causing a massive explosion that leads to the tragic deaths of all three passengers on board.
Sirens blare as first responders rush to the scene and Theodosia is questioned by the police. She discovers that one of the victims was Don Kingsley, the CEO of a local software company called SyncSoft. The police believe Kingsley was the primary target, especially because he owned a rare Revolutionary War Union Jack flag that was highly sought after.
Intrigued by the case, Theodosia decides to launch her own investigation. Could the culprit be Kingsley's soon-to-be ex-wife, who is lavishly renovating a grand mansion? Or perhaps his personal assistant, who managed his collection of Americana? Maybe it was the two rival antique dealers known for their unscrupulous tactics? Another suspect could be the fiancée of one of Theodosia's close friends, who happens to be an employee - and a whistleblower - at SyncSoft.
