Upon sneaking into Seven Ponds (a place she didn' qualify for and couldn' afford), she was surprised to find out that George Vincent, also known as the Admiral, was found dead on the night of her arrival. What was even more surprising was that no one seemed very upset about the Admiral' death or the disappearance of his beloved pet tortoise. The only topic of conversation was a missing Vincent family heirloom, and they were quick to accuse Jade of both the Admiral' murder and the theft of the valuable ring.

Amber refused to believe that the woman she had just met—and who had welcomed her without hesitation—could be responsible for the Admiral' death, and she was determined to clear her grandmother' name at any cost.
