Description
Cozy mysteries rarely focus on sex, profanity, or violence. Murders occur off-stage and are typically bloodless (e.g., poisoning), while sexual activity (if any) between characters is only subtly implied and never directly addressed.
Cozy mysteries usually take place in a small town or village. The small setting makes it plausible that all suspects know each other. The amateur sleuth is typically a likable person who can get community members to speak freely about one another. There is often at least one highly knowledgeable, nosy, yet reliable character in the book who fills in all the gaps, enabling the amateur sleuth to solve the case.
