Dealing with the loss of his right leg was a challenge, but coping with the absence of his left arm proved to be even more difficult for Wesley. While he could easily conceal his prosthetic leg, his prosthetic arm was much harder to disguise. The need to appear normal was important to him - or so he believed.

Alba is a therapist at Hathaway House, aiding patients in accepting their new reality to ensure they can achieve the highest level of function in the future. Wesley is one of her clients, and as their sessions progress, a connection forms that is hard to resist or overlook. However, she must maintain her professionalism. When she points out some issues to help him shift his perspective, their friendship encounters a rough patch. In order to regain her balance, she decides to step back.

It isn't until Wesley coincidentally encounters a young girl, who is visiting her father at the center, that he experiences the paradigm shift he needs. The potential for transformation is within his grasp, if he is willing to put in the effort. And the outcomes will undoubtedly be rewarding. Recognizing this, Wesley realizes how much effort he is prepared to exert in order to attain his desires when Alba reenters his inner circle once more.
