Tavish and his brothers are seeking an infusion of cash for their whisky distillery in the Scottish Highlands in order to reach a larger market. A suggestion from their elderly uncle prompts them to seek brides with large dowries. Their only hope lies in London, where the uncle claims to have long-lost relatives.

Although Tavish fears repeating his parents' unhappy, loveless marriage, he reluctantly agrees to the plan. Meanwhile, Piper Graham's mother is determined for her daughter to marry a duke who has shown interest in her. Despite being of Scottish descent, Piper yearns for a passionate relationship and finds herself drawn to Tavish upon first sight, much to her mother's dismay.

While Piper comes from a wealthy family, her marriage to Tavish would not bring the necessary capital to their business, even as their love blossoms. Complications arise when the Prince Regent becomes involved, adding another layer of complexity to their story.
