Merry Wrath's hometown of Who’s There, Iowa may be a charming, albeit eccentric, place to reside, but it holds the title of being the murder capital of Iowa - albeit a fact that is only widely recognized within the region. However, all of this is soon about to change with the arrival of a film crew in town, focused on creating a documentary centered around murder. While the team is not composed of killers themselves, they seem overly eager for a death to occur in the vicinity of Merry, a former CIA agent now serving as a Girl Scout Leader.

Once a dead body does indeed appear, Merry struggles to convince anyone in town that the man did not meet his demise from natural causes. The situation is further complicated by the documentary shifting its focus onto Detective Rex Ferguson’s impeccable record of solving cases, especially after rumors surface about a major streaming platform expressing interest. Consequently, a flurry of eccentric individuals from the town vie for involvement in the investigation, with the film crew engaging in increasingly dramatic reenactments, complete with explosives.

The stakes escalate as an unidentified relative of the victim arrives to claim the body for swift cremation, putting Merry on a tight deadline to crack the case before it spirals out of control.
