About the book

Former CIA agent turned Girl Scout Leader, Merry Wrath, is starting to question her decision to host a Lord of the Rings marathon for her girl scouts, as they have now signed up the entire troop for a LARP (Live Action Role Playing Game) event in Des Moines. The girls have chosen to be the Skullcrushers from Skullgraviastan, a land of mercenaries from various nations, fighting for supremacy in the Realm of Ulm against pirates, Mongols, Romans, and Vikings for a weekend.

Despite her initial doubts, Merry thinks it might be a fun experience. With no real dead bodies involved, her husband dressed as a Highlander, and her role as General Dorcas the Dark One, it seems like a harmless adventure. However, the innocence is short-lived as Andy the Necromancer reveals that Steve the Sorcerer was murdered a month ago, and Andy suspects foul play despite the police ruling it as an accident.

Reluctantly, Merry and her husband Rex, a homicide detective, decide to investigate the cold case amidst the epic battles, quirky suspects, and a grumpy local detective nearing retirement. With their hands full, can they uncover the truth before the LARP event takes a deadly turn?
