About the book

Lance Mayfair decided to visit Hathaway House based on a friend's recommendation, who claimed it was the solution to his prayers. Lance is more familiar with prayers than solutions, but if he can witness improvement in a specific aspect of his life and health, he believes the effort and pain will be worthwhile. He is determined to do whatever it takes to be able to play music again. Music is all he has left after retiring from his career as a Navy SEAL, leaving behind any hope of a fulfilling life.

Unfortunately, the shoulder injury that ended his career also means he may never be able to play his instruments again.

But there is hope at Hathaway House, particularly with the help of Jessica. Jessica has worked with many patients at the facility, but she feels a unique connection with Lance that she hasn't experienced with anyone else. She understands his inner need – his desire to create and heal through music. Her goal becomes aligned with his: to see him reconnect with the music that stirs his soul.

Yet, it becomes clear that music is not the only thing Lance desires and requires. Making him happy brings Jessica joy as well, but it's not enough. Both of them crave and need much more than just a shared love for music.
