About the book

By the request of Her Majesty’s government, private detective Cyrus Barker reluctantly agrees to provide security for a confidential meeting with the French government. The meeting is scheduled to take place at Lord Hargrave's private estate on a secluded island near Cornwall. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss a new treaty with France. To maintain secrecy, the event is disguised as a house party with the intention of introducing Lord Hargrave's single sons to potential partners.

However, the situation takes a dangerous turn when Lord Hargrave is assassinated by a sniper and the French ambassador's security chief is found murdered. With no means of escape as the boat is gone and communication lines are cut, Barker and his assistant Thomas Llewelyn must identify the culprit among the guests before another tragedy occurs.
