About the book
A Civil War veteran who was disabled during the Battle of Gettysburg embarks on a remarkable journey to the West where he ultimately meets author Jack London, only to be faced with the devastating 1906 San Francisco earthquake.
After losing his ability to speak at Gettysburg, Frederick Heigold returns to Dobbs Ferry, New York and marries a determined suffragist. Following her tragic death, he takes on a project to fix the massive clock on the San Francisco Embarcadero. However, what was supposed to be a simple railway trip turns into a six-month adventure filled with challenges. Surviving imprisonment, a shipwreck on Edisto Island, and encounters with various troublemakers, he eventually encounters Jack London at the Palace Hotel bar just before one of the deadliest natural disasters in American history.
The American Novels series' twelfth and final book, "Eden’s Clock", raises questions about the belief in individualism in shaping our future amidst uncontrollable and chaotic circumstances.
