Lady Meg Pinwell’s parents have given their consent to an advantageous marriage with James Clay, the recently appointed Duke of Earnhurst. However, Lady Meg, known for her strong will, is not willing to walk down the aisle without some investigation – especially after hearing some scandalous rumors about her soon-to-be husband! Meanwhile, James is reluctant to enter into marriage and has no interest in the responsibilities that come with being a Duke, much to the chagrin of Riniken, the former Duke’s butler. To make matters worse, a group of respectable debutantes view James, once considered too wild, as a suitable husband – including one who has infiltrated his estate with her charming maid! James comes up with a plan to switch roles with Riniken, pretending to be the butler while Riniken acts as the Duke.
