It is almost two weeks before Christmas and Detective Inspector Jack Delaney is feeling optimistic for the first time in a long time. As a second victim is found, with a red scarf around her neck and her body expertly dissected, it becomes evident that a dangerous psychopath is on the loose. With no apparent links between the victims and no clear motives, Delaney and forensic pathologist Kate Walker must rely on the evidence left behind by the dead to unravel the mystery and prevent more killings from happening again.
