About the book

When a young couple is attacked while preparing for a catering job, it appears that the family is facing a longstanding curse - one that culminates in a murder. Doreen, unable to resist getting involved, discovers that the young woman's mother was the victim of an unsolved murder. This gives Doreen a cold case to delve into while assisting Mack with his current investigation.

However, as with all her cases, things are never straightforward. As Mack grapples with the death of the chef, Doreen works tirelessly to untangle the various family factions in the background. In the midst of all this, she must also find a suitable gift for Nan's birthday, somehow managing to combine the two tasks.

If only things could proceed smoothly from here on - but of course, they do not. With the animals causing even more chaos, the situation becomes even more unpredictable.
