Becca has been the girl next door who always gets on his nerves since they were ten years old.

As time passed, she blossomed into a pretty girl at fifteen and became truly beautiful at sixteen and a half - not that he was keeping tabs. Thankfully, she didn't become drop-dead gorgeous until she turned eighteen.

Nevertheless, she has always been a nuisance.

Especially when she sees through his lies and gives him a good punch in the nose.

Yes, annoyance is the emotion he feels when she parades around in different costumes, flaunting her curves and skin to catch the eye of other guys at the Halloween party.

But as he gives in and finally kisses the girl he used to see as just a neighbor, maybe a friend, and his occasional voice of reason, he starts to think of her as something more.

This is a short story leading up to the full-length novel Always Bayou, featuring a sweet ending for now.
