About the book

Twenty-seven-year-old screenwriter Elle has been given the opportunity of a lifetime to write a high-budget film set in New York City. The only issue is that she has been struggling with writer’s block for months, and her screenplay must be completed by the end of the summer.

In a last-ditch effort to find inspiration, Elle finds herself back in the city she had vowed she would never return to, living in an apartment she could never afford (complete with floor-to-ceiling windows, skyline views, and a new coffee shop to frequent). It seems like the perfect place to work on her screenplay…until she discovers that her new neighbor is tech ‘Billionaire Bachelor’ Parker Warren, her former one-night stand from two years ago. Their relationship has turned from lovers to enemies over time.

As their encounters lead to long nights of hate-driven writing sessions, Elle begins to realize that her nemesis/twisted muse might actually be the key to finishing her screenplay... if she can handle being in close proximity with her complete opposite. She writes under a pseudonym, while he is a prominent figure in the business world. He attends fancy events on red carpets, whereas she prefers to stay within her comfort zone of a small five-block radius.

One summer. One wall separating them. He needs a fake relationship for the sake of his company’s impending acquisition. She needs to incorporate various NYC locations into her movie script. Both are in dire need of a break from their hectic schedules, and an opportunity to rediscover the magic of the city with its towering skyscrapers, delicious pizza, and sunny charms.

Summers always come to an end, and so will their arrangement. It’s all pretend. They promise.

But sometimes, promises are meant to be broken.
