About the book

From a very young age, Chloe Pierce was taught to take care of her loved ones, learning from the best. However, when her mentor is no longer by her side, Chloe is left feeling lost as her life begins to fall apart. Then she meets Judge Oakley, a tall and down-to-earth man who is her complete opposite. She enjoys shopping while he prefers hiking. She drinks pink ladies while he prefers beer. She's a city girl and he's a mountain man, leading to a clash when they first meet. Their second encounter doesn't go much smoother either.

Judge enjoys the challenge of getting to know Chloe, even though she's everything he didn't think he wanted in a woman. Despite this, he can't help but want to spend time with her. He senses that she is struggling with loss and change, but he doesn't fully understand the depth of her pain or how difficult it is for her to trust others to care for her. And when the roles are reversed, he realizes just how difficult it is for Chloe to let someone else take care of her.
