About the book
Following a change in leadership at the FBI's New York field office, Special Agent A.X.L. Pendergast finds himself in a difficult position where he must now collaborate with a partner in order to keep his job.
Pendergast and his new partner, Special Agent Coldmoon, are sent to Florida to look into a series of ritualistic slayings. The murderer is mutilating the hearts of the victims and leaving the organs next to graves in a chilling display. Along with each heart is a mysterious letter signed by someone known as 'Mr Brokenhearts'. Another intriguing element of Mr Brokenhearts' gruesome method is that the graves belonged to women who had taken their own lives.
While trying to uncover the link between the past suicides and current killings, Pendergast realizes that these recent crimes are just a small part of a larger, deadly plot that stretches back many years.
