Chaos is spreading throughout the Roman Empire. The legions stationed in Britannia have chosen Constantinus as their emperor, promising to defend the interests of the island. However, when Constantinus takes all of Britannia’s military strength to Gaul to secure his rule, the Britons are left vulnerable to attacks from barbarians.

Meanwhile, the death of the king of the most powerful Pictish tribe has created a succession crisis. Internal conflicts and power struggles within the tribes lead to civil war in the north. King Cunedag of the Votadini steps in to unite the Picts under one ruler. But will having a high king of the Picts benefit the Britons who are now without Rome’s protection, or will he become their enemy?

The Pictish Crown is the second part of a trilogy that follows the story of King Cunedag, a legendary warlord who rose to power and established the Kingdom of Gwynedd in the aftermath of the Roman Empire.
