About the book

Rowan is hoping that the deep emptiness he feels inside can begin to heal, possibly by finding the retired K9 Hershey, who was named after an old trainer friend. Rowan is determined to locate his old K9 companion, no matter what it takes. However, he is caught off guard when he discovers that Hershey has found a new friend and has puppies of her own.

Brandi is dealing with the recent loss of her grandmother, her home, and her beloved dog Lacey in a devastating forest fire. Despite everyone telling her not to lose hope, as dogs often reappear after disappearing, Brandi continues to search for Lacey at the site of the fire in her spare moments. When she realizes that someone else shares her determination, she is eager to join forces with them.

As the situation becomes more challenging, Brandi is grateful to have someone by her side, especially when she encounters a level of ugliness she had never seen before.
