Guilliam witnessed the end of his long-term relationship and, to some extent, he accepted it. He was aware that when the time was right, he would give love another shot. However, he didn't anticipate seeing her so soon after arriving at the hospital to join Jasper's investigative team.

Janelle made the difficult decision to leave Guilliam in order to care for her terminally ill mother. What was meant to be a temporary arrangement turned into a permanent stay as her mother's battle with cancer took a turn for the worse. Discovering Guilliam's presence at the hospital brought some comfort to Janelle, but his involvement in a dangerous situation left her feeling uneasy and constantly watched.
