This reporter had once unveiled a gold heist in the 1980s but had since faded from the public eye.

Despite the unsettling discovery, Katie tries to maintain a sense of normalcy. However, tensions rise as rumors swirl and the adults in her class prove to be difficult and unpleasant, with one man attempting to pressure Katie and her neighbor into giving up their leases for his own business venture.

Things take a drastic turn when the same man is found dead behind Katie's shop, leading to suspicions falling on Katie herself. To make matters worse, Edith Ellory, a ghostly food critic residing in Katie's home, decides to take matters into her own hands and uncover the truth behind the murders, leaving Katie with no choice but to assist and prevent any further chaos.
