About the book
A lighthearted cozy mystery takes place in the charming setting of Cornwall with the main characters being DCI Arthur St. Just and his soon-to-be wife Portia De’Ath.
To mark their engagement, St. Just and Portia decide to spend time in the peaceful village of Maidsfell in Cornwall. Upon their arrival, they are met with a community in turmoil due to plans for redevelopment of the local seafront.
The fishermen are pushing for a new slipway to support their business, while many locals are concerned it will ruin the scenic views that attract tourists and drive the economy. Amidst a heated town meeting on the matter, St. Just overhears a confrontation involving Lord Bodwally – a disliked aristocrat vehemently against the redevelopment plans. Later on, Bodwally is found dead. It’s a murder.
Despite Bodwally’s unpopularity, who could have gone as far as to commit murder? St. Just, despite being an outsider from Cambridge, feels an urge to assist the authorities in their investigation. Could Bodwally’s demise be related to the seafront project, his shady business dealings, or a hidden past secret? One thing is for sure, the aftermath has the potential to transform Maidsfell forever . . .
