Vampire Katherine Troy and her team are tasked with investigating how a group of werewolves are able to transform without the presence of a full moon.

Following the evidence trail leads them to Quinn McCall, the alpha of the Midwest werewolf pack. However, it becomes apparent that the wolves are not acting alone.

Kat's vampire adversary, Cain Abrams, has provided Quinn with access to witches and their magic. This alliance poses a threat to both humans and every supernatural being in the city.

The team must rescue Elle, the kidnapped witch being coerced into using her powers, and break the dark magic controlling the werewolves.

Dealing with the werewolves is not the only challenge Kat faces. Still reeling from her daughter's death, she stumbles upon new information regarding an assassination attempt that was thwarted.

The trail ultimately leads to Cain.

Kat is now more determined than ever to bring down her nemesis. But will she be able to do so before he destroys everything and everyone she holds dear?
