Aymar Castle has been besieged for half a year. Supplies are dwindling and there is no sign of rescue. Just as the survivors contemplate reducing their numbers on purpose, provisions arrive to replenish the castle stores. The sick are cured. Despite the barricades, the divine figures of the Constant Lady and her Saints appear, offering help in exchange for worship.

Before long, the entire castle falls under the influence of their saviors, indulging in intoxicating feasts of dark origins. War hero Ser Voyne pledges loyalty to the Constant Lady. Phosyne, a chaotic, paranoid nun turned sorceress, rushes to uncover the secrets of these newcomers and clear her experiments from suspicion. Meanwhile, deep within the castle, servant girl Treila struggles between seeking revenge on Voyne and escaping the horrors unfolding within Aymar’s walls.

As the castle descends into wild madness, ignoring the army outside in favor of pleasure, these three women are the only ones who see the truth. Yet, they are not immune to the allure of the castle’s new rulers...or to each other; their complicated pasts and changing loyalties lead to violence erupting. To save the castle and themselves, they must redefine who they are and reshape the world around them.
