Some of the twists in the story border on the ridiculous-such as Luc's codpiece getting stuck to a tablecloth at a Renaissance ball, or Kate taking down an assailant with a pillow-and Kate's hesitation to confess her feelings for Luc because she believes she's only his "dinner" is frustrating. Nevertheless, fans of vampire tales will find themselves chuckling all the way through. (Sept.) Forecast: This marks the start of a series of humorous "bloodsucker stories" from Love Spell. While the title alone will spark readers' interest, the book will receive an extra push at the Romantic Times national convention, where Love Spell will showcase the series with a paranormal launch event.
