Due to the fact that church fires are classified as hate crimes, FBI Special Agent Nathan Carlisle is brought in to collaborate with local law enforcement. Nathan carries his own burdens from the past that he would rather forget. Assisting Jesslyn in tracking down the arsonist serves as a welcome diversion.

As the investigation progresses and the sparks fly between Jesslyn and Nathan, reminiscences from the past will clash with aspirations for the future. When Jesslyn is confronted with her worst nightmare, she must confront her fears and lean on Nathan and her circle of friends to make it through.
