It has been six long years since entertainment agent Myron Bolitar last embraced his inner hero. In that time, he has refrained from violence and avoided dangerous situations. However, everything changes when Myron decides to protect two high school girls from a perilous situation involving a drunk driver. He urges them to call him instead of getting into a car with someone who has been drinking. When one of the girls calls him in the middle of the night, Myron races to her side and is shocked to discover that she is missing the next day.

Suddenly, Myron finds himself at the center of a frantic search for the missing girl, realizing that he was the last person to see her. In a race against time, he must once again step into the role of a hero to save her life, a promise that has spiraled into a nightmare.
