By the conclusion of 1918, Russell and Holmes were compelled to escape from England. They made their way into British-controlled Palestine with the assistance of Holmes' mysterious brother, Mycroft. Despite the escalating tensions between Jew, Muslim, and Christian communities, a series of murders had taken place in the region. Holmes was insistent on reconstructing the most recent murder in the desert gully where it occurred. Their discoveries would take them on a journey through crowded markets, squalid dwellings, precarious monasteries, and into imminent danger.
