Lady detectives Marjorie Swallow and Mrs Jameson are tasked with uncovering the sender of the death notice before it becomes a reality. However, Marjorie soon realizes that Lord Ravensbourne, a domineering bully, has made plenty of enemies throughout his life. It seems like almost everyone has a motive to see him gone.

The two detectives delve into the chaotic world of 1920s Fleet Street, the hub of British newspapers, where journalists will do whatever it takes for a scoop, printers go on strike at the drop of a hat, and the sound of the presses is constantly echoing in the basement. Can they protect Lord Ravensbourne and unravel the mystery behind the death notice, or will the ominous prediction end up on the front page?
