Alyssa Maxwell
Alyssa Maxwell first fell in love with Newport when she visited friends there during high school. The historic cobbled lanes and gas-lit neighborhoods captivated her, drawing her back time and time again. It was during one of these return visits that she met her future husband.
As a devoted history enthusiast, Alyssa found that marrying into a prominent Newport family provided her with a wealth of opportunities for historical exploration. From ancient graveyards dating back to the seventeenth century, to colonial homes still inhabited today, to the Newport Artillery Company where her husband's grandfather served as curator, Newport became a place of endless fascination and romance.
Although Maxwell and her husband now live in sunny Florida, a piece of her heart will always belong to the quaint New England city with its rich history that spans from before the Revolution to the present day. Newport is truly a microcosm of American history, encompassing the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, the Industrial Age, the Gilded Age, and everything beyond.
